Overview of Boundless' Ultra Low Bandwidth, IP-Based System
In covert video surveillance, high quality recorded video is often important evidence and has a major impact on the direction of on-going investigations. If the highest quality recorded video is important as evidence, then the video must be recorded near the camera rather than being sent live over a public wide area network to a distant digital video recorder. Boundless’ outdoor systems-in-a-box internally record better video than can be sent live, and do so regardless of network congestion and changes, and resulting Internet connection dropouts, in dynamic IP addresses. In contrast, IP cameras that stream video to distant network video recorders were designed for use on local area networks that have low packet loss, low latency and fixed IP addresses, not wide area networks where packet loss and latency are orders of magnitude higher, and where periodic changes in dynamic IP addresses cause dropouts in video recording.
